How the Dispute Process Works

SafeSide publishes community reports and gives every affected driver a formal way to respond. This page documents exactly how disputes are handled, including what we can and cannot do.

How and when drivers are notified

SafeSide does not currently notify drivers when a report is published, because we deliberately do not collect driver contact details. A driver finds a report by searching their own plate number. Adding notification would require collecting the phone numbers or emails of drivers, which we choose not to do: collecting less identity information is a deliberate privacy design, not an oversight.

What happens after you file a dispute

Your claim is recorded immediately and a senior moderator reviews it within 5 to 7 business days. Counter-statements are published on the driver profile only after moderator review, not at filing time. If you attach supporting documents (registration papers, trip receipts, chat logs), the affected report or reports are temporarily hidden from the public profile while your claim is reviewed, and restored if the original report is upheld.

Whether the reporter responds

Reporters are pseudonymous by design: we hold no contact details for them, so we cannot forward a dispute to the reporter. If clarification is needed, a moderator can request more information from the reporter through their private tracking link. Your counter-statement is published alongside the report either way, so readers always see both sides.

What evidence you can provide, and how it is assessed

You can attach up to three images: registration documents, trip receipts, platform tickets, or chat screenshots. A senior moderator compares your statement and documents against the published report. No automated system decides outcomes. Reports are temporarily hidden during review when documents are attached, because a credible misidentification claim should not stay public while it is being checked.

Who decides, and how long it takes

Disputes are reviewed by senior moderators, and every action is audit-logged. We aim to resolve claims within 5 to 7 business days of filing. Moderators apply publication rules; they do not adjudicate who is telling the truth, and no outcome is a finding of fact by SafeSide.

Correction, removal, and appeals

If a claim is upheld as a removal, the report is rejected and disappears from the profile; a whole-profile claim (for example, a vehicle that was sold) removes every report on the plate. If the claim is rejected, the report stays and your counter-statement is published beside it. SafeSide does not edit report text: a report is either published as the reporter wrote it, or removed. Rejected disputes cannot currently be reopened; if you obtain new documents, you may file a new dispute with them.
